< BACK | Round Two: Ruapuna (24-25 November, 2007)

Hi everyone,
Round 2 has came and gone over the weekend, with it being a succesful weekend which should have been better but we did the best we could.
Testing on friday was excellent. The car was great and we were really showing early form posting the fastest lap in test 1 being 1.4 sec faster than next competitor, then also again in test 2 being 1.1 sec faster. At this stage we were pretty confident and looking foward to a great weeeknd. |

Qualifying: Once again car was great and we put it on pole (Suzuki class) also putting 2 class b cars between the other suzukis and me.
Race 1: Dissapointing race which hurt us badly in points
Great start and at end of lap 1 I had already gained a pretty healthy lead. I thought the race was mine untill on lap 2 at turn 4 (hairpin) I was hit from behind by another class car which upset the car. I managed to get it back straight when I received another huge hit. This pushed me wide allowing that car to pass me and also left me which a damaged rear end and a left rear puncture. I finished the race a mere 4th but still got respectable points so got the best of a bad situation.
Race 2: Started P4 as this was finishing order of race . Had a good start and made my way to 2nd in lap 2, by which stage Brock Barrie had a good lead on me as he had the advantage of drafting with the other class b car. I did catch him by lap 5 but was unfortunate enough to be blocked by a car that went off the track and came on in front of me causing me to lose all my momentum. Finished 2nd.
Race 3: (Reverse grid) Started p6, I had a great start getting to p4 by exit of turn 2 and by end of lap 1 I was in 2nd really on a charge after Paul Hinton. By end of lap 2 I was right behind him where I out braked him at the sweeper. From there I pulled away winning by a very comfortable 9 second lead.
Unfortunately after the weekend we lost our championship lead but are only 5 points behind new leader Brock Barrie. With 5 rounds to go anything can happen and we look foward to regaining our championship lead in Taupo at the A1GP round in January.
Once again I'd like to thank my sponsors Hollands Suzuki cars, Mag and Turbo and Suzuki New Zealand. Also a big thanks to Paul and Simon from Winger and Neil Colls for all their help over the weekend and keeping the car set-up great.
Thanks
Untill Taupo I wish eveyone a happy and safe Christmas and New Year.
Bring on round 3!
Regards
